Click Here for the Power Period Catalog

What is Power Period?
* A daily 30 minute instructionally focused period lasting approximately five weeks. At the end of the five week session, students will rotate to a different session. There will be six different rotations throughout the school year.
* The daily 30 minute Power Period will not involve grades or credits. However, attendance and tardies will be recorded.
* Students that are behind or have failed CRCT's, GHSGT's, benchmarks, etc. will be assigned to focused redelivery sessions to prepare them for the next assessment. Once on grade level, students will opt for enrichment topics.
* Students not needing enrichment could opt for enrichment sessions in high interest topics.

Why we need Power Period!
* Allow the opportunity for non-graded enhanced learning sessions for ALL of students.
* We need to offer more help to students before they fail.
* Some students that are not failing may simply want/need additional support to perform better (Math I, Math II, etc.).
* Many students will want acceleration topics to extend the learning they might not normally be exposed to in a regular class.
* Students need the opportunity to take topics that they cannot fit in their normal schedule due to increased Graduation Requirements.

Daily Schedule Considerations
* Starting and ending times of school day are unaffected, so transportation is not an issue.
* The 30 minute Power Period will be after second period so that all students can participate (clinical, joint enrolled, CBE, etc.)
* In addition to the Power Period, the six regular courses will meet for 50 minutes each day.
* Parents can request redelivery help for their child by emailing us at:LHSPowerPeriod@ccboe.net
